Excursion of 2.EE and 3.EE to the Orlicka Dam
On Monday 14th April 2025, classes 2.EE and 3.EE went on an excursion to the Orlika dam and hydroelectric power station.
We were met by a guide who told us why the dam was built and what it was used for. We learned that the Orlická Dam was completed in 1961 and is important for power generation and water retention.
The most interesting part was the tour of the electric generators. We looked into the engine room, saw the turbines and transformers. The guide talked about how the water flow is regulated and what all must be monitored to keep the dam running safely and reliably.
Overall, the tour of the Orlické Dam was interesting.
