The excursions were held as part of preventive activities and aimed to familiarize students with the operation of the workplaces, the work of rescuers, the basic principles of first aid and also to impress a little in the prevention of risky behavior.
As part of the excursion, the students first went to the Education and Training Centre of the South Bohemian Health Service, where they were welcomed by a lecturer with a lecture on "First Aid Training", a quick training on this topic and a discussion followed about the experience of calling an "ambulance", including lessons on proper communication with emergency workers and the use of the application "Záchranka", which was recommended to the students to install on their mobile phones.
Furthermore, the pupils learned about the functioning of the ambulance service in the region, including the concept of "first responders", i.e. trained lay people who can intervene before the arrival of paramedics, and the availability of AED defibrillators in public places. The practical part included a tour of an ambulance and a demonstration of the devices in use.
Afterwards, the students and their class teachers went on an excursion to the alcohol detention centre, which particularly impressed many of them. The students learnt about how things work at the detention centre, the price for one night and other information. The participants of the excursion had the opportunity to look inside the cells, some classes even before cleaning up after the nightly "visitors", and some of the pupils also tried to breathe into the alcohol tester.
The students themselves and the accompanying class teachers evaluated the whole event positively and saw it as beneficial. It is overwhelmingly recommended for repetition with Year 1s in the next school year, which we will be happy to arrange again.
