During the meeting, companies had the opportunity to present their production programme and cooperation offers, while schools focused on presenting their fields of study and expectations from partnerships with industry. The common goal of all participants was to ensure that high school graduates are well prepared for their internships in companies.
The presentations included offers of opportunities for students such as internships, part-time jobs and the possibility to work on graduation or bachelor's theses. Attending the conference allowed schools to make new contacts with companies and to better understand the way other institutions approach this important collaboration.
A number of secondary schools presented their current attitude towards the practical baccalaureate. There is a noticeable move away from it and an attempt to replace it with a final examination paper. Especially schools where there are enough partner companies (Central Bohemia Region, Ústí nad Labem Region, Prague) require all students to complete their final exams in cooperation with partner companies and do not have practical exams as such. This frees up time and space in the school, as well as the capacity of the teaching staff, as the papers are supervised by practitioners. At the same time, they substantially increase the demands on students' skills, knowledge and practical skills.
ElectroJobs 2024 thus represents a significant step towards deepening the relationship between the education sector and industry in order to prepare future professionals for the practical challenges that await them in the labour market.
