Girls club: Markéta Řehořová - Women in technology

On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, a graduate of our school, Markéta Řehořová, was invited to SPŠ SE as part of the Girls' Club to give a lecture on the status of women in technology.

At SPŠ SE we support the interest of girls in technology and with it also the functioning of the Girls' Club, through which we try to keep our students in contact with each other, inspire each other and have the opportunity to discuss everything that studying at a school with a majority of boys brings with it. Markéta Řehořová's lecture on Women in Technology was the first event of this type, which arose from the students' desire to meet different women working in the technical sphere at school.

The speaker first gave a general insight into the topic of women in technology, then outlined her own career path for the girls. In this way, the students learned about the paths that led the speaker to the position of validation engineer at Robert Bosch, spol. s r.o., and what this job entails. Furthermore, a part of the lecture was dedicated to information about where women in technical positions at Robert Bosch, Ltd. can be found and what it means for women. Markéta Řehořová mentioned, among other things, how important it is to know a foreign language - English - within the profession and part of her speech was devoted to equal pay in the company. She also shared with the students present why it was very beneficial for her personally to study at the SPŠ SE within the boys' majority. She concluded by wishing the girls present that one day they will get a job that they will enjoy and be interested in above all.

According to the completed feedback, the lecture was very interesting and beneficial for the majority of the students present. It is certainly not the last such event, and we are planning more events of this type, tailored to the girls, in the coming semester.
