The excursions to Prague were identical in their content, on Monday the pupils of 3.EB went and on Tuesday the pupils of 3.EA. We went to Prague by train, then we took a tram to Prague Castle. Here we visited St. Vitus Cathedral, where we talked about its construction, symbolism, functionality. Of course we saw the Chapel of St. Wenceslas or the silver tomb of St. John of Nepomuk. We were interested in the historical context, so we met Charles IV, Vladislav Jagiellon, Rudolf II, and also Alphonse Mucha. Thanks to the nice weather, the cathedral was playing with all the colours that were the work of the stained glass windows.
The next object in our journey was the Old Royal Palace with the Vladislav Hall, the defenestration window from the 2nd Prague Defenestration and the Old Chamber of Deputies, which was used for the courts of the nobility and the recording of their property.
After a little refreshment we visited the Basilica of St. George with the tomb of St. Ludmilla and continued to the Golden Lane. In May the gardens under the Castle are already open, which we took advantage of and walked back through them to the entrance of the Castle grounds.
Now the Old Royal Route awaited us - we walked along Nerudova Street, past St. Nicholas Cathedral, across Charles Bridge, and entered the Klementinum, thus avoiding other groups. We followed the Old Town Square, the Estates Theatre and Wenceslas Square with the National Museum.
In the Pantheon of the museum we repeated the names of writers, politicians and other personalities and we also visited the exhibition on the history of our country. Students also had the opportunity to tour the museum independently.
Then we just got on the train and went to Č. Budejovice. Both excursions went smoothly and were in many ways beneficial.
